I need an answer soon!!!?... So i am trying to sell a rabbit cage for 150 dollars and I don't know how to get the word out. Any ideas please let me know.

1) Put the rabbit cage out on your front lawn with a sign that says "FOR SALE $150"

If you live on a small side street, put a sign that says "RABBIT CAGE FOR SALE" on a pole at the end of your street with an arrow pointing to your house.

2) They do a good job promoting.. It's that they make their money off of people that aren't techies. Microsoft always makes software that is bloaty and slow. They have consistently ignored web standards and designed their software in direct competition to others..I guess that's what they should do?? Anyway, this is why people now use Opera, Firefox, Chrome, etc...and soon google will come out with an operating system. Which is why I think they tried to do good with this current version of windows 7. It's by far the only operating system that MS has done right it seems. To me marketting involves getting people to buy things that they don't really want or need and companies need this.

I can't imagine the classes being difficult.
Business, marketting, economics...
You will need a 4 year college degree, and possibly a 2 year masters to make over 100K.

Are your parents saving up for your college?
There are many tricks into moving finances around so you can qualify for as much student aid as possibly.

how do I make the post man stop giving me newspaper advertisements?... I tried leaving him a note in my box saying, please save paper and don't give me any more newspaper advertisements. But he gave me twice as many. I don't know who sends them out, so I don't know who to write to to tell them to stop, but they fill up my mailbox, get on my nerves, and end up in the trash faster than poop in the pot.

It's the most depressing thing in the world to open my box when i'm waiting for exciting mail and out falls a pile of damned advertisements that I am now responisible for cleaning up and disposing of.
by the way, I have no idea which category to put this under.

1) The postman isn't the one printing and sending you these adverts, so telling him to "save paper" is ridiculous. Do you think he's got a little printing press in his truck cranking them out? He delivers what he's given to deliver, and he certainly doesn't have the authority to throw some of it out instead. How much extra work do you want him to do for you (for nothing)?

If you want to know who's sending them, *look* at them! You can try asking the people whose name is all over them to stop sending them. But odds are they don't keep a specific mailing list, and just pay the postal service to deliver to every house in the area. Sorry.

Bottom line: get over it. If you're too lazy and whiny to handle the responsibility of recycling your own junk mail, you're going to have a hell of a time dealing with the rest of being a grown-up. - JAQ

2) Ok, I see you are into the HIP HOP music industry. You need to ask yourself a few questions before you get your answer.
1. Do you have a following, if so...do you have distribution?
2. What type of websites does your target market visit on a daily or weekly basis. In other words, what website do you and people that listen to hip hop music visit on a daily basis or weekly basis to find out who came out with new music or to find out the latest hip hop news?
Example:billboard.com, Murderdog magazine's website, allaccess.com, you local radio stations website, hiphop.com?

3. Have you thought of investing in yourself as an artist? In other words, most Program Directors at radio stations now and days look for many things in a upcoming recording artist before they play them on the radio;
A. Does the Artist have a talent? Example: Can they sing or rap or can the dance like Chris Brown?
B. Does the artist have a following?
Example: Does the artist have a track record of hit songs or is the artist a well know upcoming artist like a Drake!

Don't fill you your time trying to send out messages and bulletins on a MySpace friends home page, it’s too time consuming and it's not too effective as people think!
Example: E-40, Tec-9, Snoop Dog, 50 Cent, Dubbie, Spice1 and many bay area recording artist all use social general public websites like MySpace.com to promote their album release!

Did you know when Tec9 put out his latest album, he made sure to coordinate an aggressive MySpace.com banner advertising campaign? The banners he bought were the top banners on your homepage when people log in and the small square banner ads located on the right hand side of the home page! His campaign only focused on specific markets like San Francisco, Modesto, Fresno, San Jose, Sacramento and Oakland.

Look into doing the same for your music because it doesn't cost as much as people think. When you get a chance, go to myspace.com main index page where is shows the small log in section on your right hand side, industry news and movies! Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and click on the link the say's "Advertise".
Remember, MySpace was made for music groups to promote their music. They'll let you do a ad campaign for as low as $100-$300. Plus you can run these ad's only in areas that you want to focus in! Example: Let’s say I'm a hip hop artist, and I want to run ads on Myspace.com. I can coordinate an online banner ad campaign on MySpace that will only run in Fresno, CA, Modesto, CA and San Francisco, CA and my ad's will only be shown to single Males and Females, 11 -24 years of age that listen to Rap, Hip Hop, Hyphy Music, Hardcore underground, Rock and Pop!
Funny huh?
Plus this type of campaign makes you look like a pro! This type of campaign you would mention in your marketing plan when you take it to a distributor. Maybe they might have some clients in the markets you are coordinating your online campaign. In other words, this kind of campaign will help your CD distribution. Check it out when you get a chance.

Ok, why do we use the scale of 1-5 in surveys questionaires and scientific research, as apposed to 1-10, or 1-20, etc.. It seems that generally people are used to ranking things on a scale of 1-10 , but for research purposes it seems that 1-5 is preffered. why is this?

1) You should add some keywords to your site, at the moment you ony have the site name:

You should do some keyword research relating to your products and add the most popular such as
<meta name="keywords" content="pillows, duvets, blankets and so on" />
This will make your site more searchable with google etc.
You can download a programme called web ceo (google it) It's free and is a set of optimisation tools to help get your site ranked. Also, they do a free online university course in SEO (search engine optimisation) and it's worth browing that for extra tips. Blogging and flogging is the way! Write short articles on blogging sites with a lot of traffic with a link to your site. Also with web ceo, it includes a search engine submitter and i think it now incorporates an article submitter.
If you want to pay for advertising, you should join google adwords, this is free to join. You agree an amount with google, such as 50 dollars per month. You fill out a small ad and google put your ad out everywhere rellevant. You pay them per click, an agreed amount. You can never go over your monthly amount and may even pay less, but it's a great way of getting your site seen.
You may also think about offsetting that cost by also joining google adsense. Adsense again is free and this allows you to add a code to your site in an allotted space which google will use for advertising other peoples sites. You will then get per paid click. - yipyap

2) Make sure you do A LOT of research before you sign up for Adwords and start paying, it is very very easy to spend an enormous amount of money and gain nothing.

If you can afford it, a local SEM (search engine marketing) expert can help you set up an Adwords campaign and I highly recommend it for a beginner. When you're paying by the click, its very easy to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars a month and not gain a single sale. What can I do to stop At&T's aggressive marketing?... We receive mail every 2-3 days. The mail comes in so many different formats- in unmarked letters, flyers, and a huge sign was hung from my door handle today. We have had the staff come door knocking and you have to shut the door in their faces because they have an answer for anything you say. They come knocking on weekends and evenings after dark. The amount of paper mail we receive should be classified as environmental terrorism- the amount of paper we receive is terrible- and NO we won't be switching to AT and T!! EVER!! We have told these people over and over when they have called and door knocked. Exhausting.

Sale picture is misleading towards wrong product?... I went to Walmart today for their Black Friday sales, I got there around 7:00am, so i new all the good stuff would be gone. I did find a few items that were on my list, for example: an 8 gig SanDisk Cruiser. In the Walmart Sales Magazine, it was on sale for $14.00, however, when I got to the register (and price listed in the aisle), it rang up to $19.00.

I explained this to the check out lady, and she referred me to customer service. Customer Service said that my product didn't exactly match the picture in their ad. Even though it was the same model, same manufacturer, same (nearly) everything, the logo on the object in the paper was printed vertically, and the one i purchased was written horizontally.

It's still a good price for an 8 gig, but I feel somewhat swindled. What are your opinions on the issue?

3) Often, your city will have ordinances with guide lines on such things. However, sometimes asking your Courthouse on these matters is worse than having never asked. I have a friend who was going to put up a 4 by 8 foot sign near his home based business. He said I should have just put up the sign anyway. Once he asked about the size and where it had to be from the street, then the city watched to be sure he did it right. The sign wasn't as effective when put up according to the ordinances because of its location to be legal. - Derail

However advertising can cost an arm and a leg and nobody can charge you for sticking your fliers up on the bus stop or in the phone box or painting on the wall unless they can prove it was you.

However, in the long run moonlight advertising does not look good for your business so i would suggest to begin with you just do a bit of canvassing on foot and stick some leaflets through doors for which you need no permission nor fee's to do.

Hopefully this will generate some positive feed back and with the profit you may wish to pay for adverts in the papers or in magazines or even radio coverage and with that you can take your advertising venture to a new level further, god willing it gets that far - BlackyBlue

placing a sign on your own car and driving around is legal. placing a sign on someone elses car with their permission is allowed. placing it without permission is not allowed.

placing flyers under the windshield wipers of cars in a parking lot varies. most times the owner of the lot does not allow it even though some choose to ignore it.

going door to door and placing them on the door isn't necessarily illegal. it depends on the solicitation laws in your (or that) community.

placing them on public structures (bridges, buildings, existing signs, phone poles, etc) is not allowed. placing them on private property is allowed with permission from the property owner.

Marketing question...?... I work for a small insurance company and have been asked to bring in new clients to expand our book of business. I've tried the more traditional means of marketing (direct mailings, cold calling, etc.), but whenever I try to make a contact, I just get shut down. Which I don't blame them because I know when I see an insurance person calling my house, I don't answer and toss out any letter. 1) No, they are 2 different things. The logo is the representation of the company, brand or product and the signage is the marketing piece used to promote that product. The signage typically contains the logo for brand recognition purposes, but not always. For example, say you're at Wal-Mart in the razor isle...you might see signage to purchase a new Gillette razor with Gillette's logo on the advertisement. Or you might just see signage that says "BUY ME!!!!" and you have no idea what it is until you walk over and see they are talking about Gillette razors. I've never seen Wal-Mart create signage that way, but you get the point hahaha.

Your product will most likely be original and rare. Originality sells anything on the market. Consumers love to try new things. If you can come up with a product that people need, you could end up being a millionaire.

The first place you can distribute your product is auction or social marketplaces. This takes a lot of time but you will reach millions of customer right away. This can be the money that keeps you going until you are developed better. Ebay is a great place to start; but I would recommend staying away from ebay for now. Ebay can cost a lot of money to make only a little if you are unexperienced. You can find some great auction places that won't cost you as much as ebay in my top 15 list of 2007-2008.

If you already have a website, put your product on your website. Get a good template or build a professional looking website. Now that you have a website, you have to do the most important thing. Make some friends in forums. Forums can bring you tons of traffic. There are millions of members to various forums out there. Don't underestimate the power of a good forum. Make sure the forums you sign up for are related to your product/business. Don't spam the forums with posts either. That will only get you kicked off or suspended. You want to actually make some friends there. Talk about various topics in the forum. Make sure the forum gives you the option to have a signature. The signature is how you will get people to your website/product. Put your website in the signature. Now, every time you leave a response or start a topic in the forum, people will see your website link and visit your website. Because the forum is related to the topic of your business/product, more people will buy your product. Don't join forums if they don't let you have a signature.

Submit your website to as many website directories as possible. Most website directories will let you submit your website for free. This can be a great way to bring in traffic but can take time to see results. Try and set up the keywords on your website. Put as many keywords as you can that relate to what your product is about. This way search engines will find content related to your business/product. This can be very effective if you get good at it.

Keep the content one your website updated. Update your website at least once a day. Only the newest content makes it to search engine front pages. If the content on your website is over a month old, you don't stand a chance to make it on the front page of Google. The old style of search engines would have let you slide. But new updated search engines are optimized to find the new stuff first. Google is probably the most popular search engine out there. They don't want their readers to find old content on the front page and in the number 1 position. Think about it.

Most of these techniques take time to see results. The results are too overwhelming to ignore. These techniques are very effective if you have time and dedication on your side. I would ship item right away as soon as the funds are in your paypal account and the payment status is completed and see if your eligible for seller protection and the buyers address is confirmed if paypal hold funds (which they do for sellers with a low feedback score, or a new seller or someone selling specific item like a mobile phone etc), these funds are released after 21 days if there are no problems with the transaction BUT they are generally released sooner if the buyer leaves positive feedback or if you post via registered mail (with a valid tracking number) and give paypal a call and provide them with the tracking reference number and then they will release the funds right away.

If your question refers to transfer between your paypal to bank account, then I would not wait to ship as the funds can take upto 5 working days and buyers do not like waiting that long for their items (i certainly don't) and it can affect your seller ratings, once the money is in your paypal account then it is safe if it is completed! get yourself a paypal top up card, costs £4.95 (one off) and then you can transfer your paypal balance onto the card overnight (limits apply), then you can withdraw the funds from a atm or use it anywhere you see the visa sign (it is a prepaid visa debit card).

I would be mostly interested in creative advertising, I think, as I am very good in visual arts and english. The only thing is, I am a bit shy, so does all aspects of advertising invovle having really good people skills.

Do you suggest any specific programs or schools?

1) I am currently doing a marketing focus with a Bachelor of Commerce (co-op) at Memorial University. I think communication skills (including) interpersonal skills are essential if you want to target marketing/advertising from a business perspective. There are creative roles in the business which involve less inter-personal contact (think filming, drawing). But then, you need to know people to get a good job in that type of position. My suggestion: enroll in a business program at a great school like Memorial, beat the shy out of you, and make some connections in the biz while you're at it.

Just as a warning, the starting pay in advertising can be quite low. But with a business degree, you'll have plenty of other options to fall back on (even if only temporarily) - M Dee

2) I am a freshman in college this year :) I am majoring in business administration with a minor in advertising; I am very creative and I think it would be fun as well! I can sometimes be shy too, advertising does involve some people skills but not any more than normal public relations jobs. One thing to warn you about though is that you might have to take speech classes... ugh i know right! I have to take it to get my degree in advertising, and am now working on a 10 minute speech, but I think if you can get past speech class you can do it all :) you also have to take psychology and sociology for that degree which I am taking in the spring :) but i live in tennessee so it may be different in Canada. 3) Hello. I am 12 years into my career, have been working in the world of brands, marketing and advertising all that time.
I think you are referring to the creation of advertising in which case there tends to be 2 types of creatives (traditionally) for broadcast advertising - copywriters who write the words, and creative directors who do the picture stuff. They usually work in a pair, one of each though this is not always true. best route into this is to study advertising or design or creative writing as well as media then put together a portfolio as you go along to show what you can do. Creatives do not have to be able to give speeches etc usually because they are thought of as a bit "precious" in the traditional advertising world.
There are other roles in advertising, 2 main areas would be account management where you liaise with a client (eg Coca Cola) about what they need from their ads and you then brief that in to the creatives. You also manage the relationship with the client o a day to day basis. The final area is strategic planning which is all about understanding the customer and the market and using that to help determine what the client brand or company should do next.
But also know that the world of advertising is changing fast. The way it works today depends upon the majority of people consuming their media through the same channels (eg 10 or 15 main TV channels and some local radio stations, plus billboards and newspapers). However this is not the case any more - you are spending your spare time on Yahoo asking questions not watching TV! So the future of advertising is likely to be more fragmented and less "powerhouse" than it used to be. This could be seen as a bad thing, or indeed as an opportunity for you as, coming in young and fresh you won't be as scared by this new way of doing things as all those old creatives who were used to the old world.
If i were you i would try to find an ad creative and talk to them. Maybe search for blogs or similar to identify someone...

Marking ideas for selling bracelets to raise awareness for brain tumors?... I'm doing a fundraiser at school that involves selling those rubber bracelets (like the Live Strong ones) to raise awareness for brain tumors. I'm having difficulties deciding where to sell them. Do you have any ideas for a target market/location? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

1) Good for you! That's awesome you would do this by the way.

Team up with local business's get them to promote themselves with your help. Having business's involved with charity, fund-raising always helps them look like a good guy within the community.

Most business's are very eager to help with this. I live in Lafayette Indiana so I don't know if teaming up with my company would help, if you think I could let me know...but if you had a local business with a web-site I would see if they would set up a link on their site. Team up with the right business and they might even sell them off their web-site for you. Get several business's involved. Have them sell bracelets right off their counter.

This next idea is for the most courageous : )* If you get a business to hold an event with maybe a few bands that would play for charity. Have entrance to the party say "Buy one bracelet per person for entrance" Might have to phrase to say "Donate $5 to get in and get bracelet". This would get you a press release with a newspaper and this would be great exposure for the business and the charity. Try a banquet hall, big restaurants or any place that would hold a reception.

Info commercial project help?... In one of my classes we have to make an info commercial about a product that we make up THAT HAS TO WORK! So it has to be something that you can actually use. And since it has to work I can't come up with no ideas! If anyone could give me some ideas that will be very helpful! :)
